Josie's Corner

Like all families and carers, we have lots of stories to tell with lots of ups and downs.

Like all families and carers, there have been some people who have had a great impact on us as we learnt to manage a life with autism, epilepsy, challenging behaviours and bowel disorders.

All our properties have individual names and many people ask what is the story behind these names. For the full story, you will have to come and read for yourself but we can tell you that Josie’s Corner was named after Richard’s Mum.

Josies Corner - Meal time!

Josie was a teacher who just loved the idea of sharing experiences and learning from others. Sadly, Josie never got to see The Thomas Centre, but we just know that she would love to see what happens in Josie’s Corner.

This is a large communal room, with a fully fitted kitchen and with lots of play equipment to use and enjoy. There is a range of indoor games and equipment for rainy days and we have music and an electric piano for singalongs or just simply for practising a little more for that Grade 4 exam when you get back from holiday!

There is also a selection of tables and chairs which can be re-arranged to suit the needs of your party. For example larger groups may choose to gather in Josie’s Corner for their evening meal where you can enjoy preparing their meal and eating together.

We keep all our local tourist information in Josie’s Corner and we also have a photographic record of the building of The Thomas Centre. Visitors do be warned: if you ask Richard any questions on the building project, then make sure you have a least half an hour to spare! Men and building projects, just like kids with Lego!

Josie's Corner is also available free of charge and by prior arrangement to local parent support groups. We were proud to provide this facility to the Lincolnshire National Autistic Society for their AGM. Please ring us to discuss your personal requirements.
