As parents or carers, it is a natural fact of life that we spend most of our time thinking about and caring for our children. However, when we have a child with special needs it is also a reality that we spend a disproportionate amount of time discussing and meeting that child’s needs, often to the exclusion of other family members.
Over the last three years, we have had many, many discussions on all aspects of our marketing. However, our “strap line” came to us immediately and with no hesitation and with virtually no discussion. We wanted this is a holiday park to be “for the whole family, the whole group” right from day one.
"At last we have found the perfect holiday location. The boys loved everything, especially the swimming"
So, what do we mean by term “for the whole family”?
If the purpose of a holiday is to have a break from the routines of life, then everyone deserves a break. We do not focus our facilities purely around the person with special needs. We aim to provide an environment where everyone can relax and enjoy the beautiful facilities in a safe and secure place and where parents, carers, brothers and sisters can all have a great holiday. This is why we describe The Thomas Centre as a unique holiday destination designed to provide first class facilities for the whole family.
"Matthew just loved the freedom to run and run in such wide open spaces"
It has been our experience that children quickly come to relax in the calm and safety of The Thomas Centre.
We have seen that often this quickly translates to parents who also begin to enjoy the sense of well-being, knowing that their family is at ease and comfortable in their five star holiday home. Rather like a virtual circle, the more that children and young adults relax, the more the parents can relax.
"Another superb stay in perfect surroundings where John can be himself without judgement. Matthew loved the bikes and we all enjoyed the daily relaxation of the pool – the miracle continues"
